Colombo Morenicol Lernex

Morenicol Lernex - Lernex is effective against skin flukes (Gyrodactylus), gill flukes (Dactylogyrus), and internal worms (Nematodes). The presence of these parasites can only be determined under the microscope. Lernex is also effective against leeches (Piscicola), fish lice (Argulus) and anchor worms (Lernea). The presence of these parasites can be detected with the naked eye.

Use of this medication is at your own risk. Before adding to the pond, first consult the package leaflet.

Extensive User Manual:

Content calculation:

Calculate the volume of the pond as accurately as possible: length x width x average depth in decimetres = volume in litres. Morenicol Lernex is available in 250 ml packaging for 5,000 ltr pond water, 500 ml for 10,000 ltr, 1,000 ml for 20,000 ltr and 2,500 ml for 50,000 ltr.

Water quality:

Good water quality is essential for an optimal effect of Morenicol Lernex and a rapid recovery of sick fish. Therefore, always test the water quality before and after treatment and correct where necessary.

Dosage:

20 gr (= 1 scoop) per 500 liters of pond water. A measuring scoop is included in the package. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 14 days.

Measure the required amount with the measuring spoon and pre-mix in a watering can or bucket with water. Then distribute evenly over the pond. Below 10°C, Morenicol Lernex is insufficiently absorbed by the parasite. If possible, we recommend increasing the water temperature to improve absorption. Do not filter over carbon or zeolite; UV lamps and ozone devices up to 1 week after
keep the last delivery disabled. Keep filter enabled.

Warning:

After adding Lernex, the activity of the parasites is initially increased. This irritates the fish that can dart through the water and even jump out of the pond. Therefore keep a close eye on the fish during and after the treatment! Lernex can be harmful to invertebrates
such as snails and crustaceans.

Only for use with ornamental fish in ponds. Keep in its packaging and out of the reach of children between 4 and 32°C. Do not inhale. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

breakdown:

Administered agents will naturally disappear in ponds through natural processes, such as oxidation and degradation by bacteria.

Pets and birds drinking from a pond containing these resources.

As a rule, it can be said that if fish can swim in it, so can the animals that live in it
just from drinking, is harmless. Nevertheless, it makes sense to simply give pets dogs and cats, who are used to drinking from the pond, a bowl of water during the course of treatment. Combinations: There should be a time difference of at least 2 weeks between the use of Morenicol Lernex and Alparex. The effect of a combination with other agents is not known. Combinations with other products are expressly at your own risk!

Information:

Fish lice, gill lice and anchor worms are different than the name suggests, not lice and not worms, but a kind of crustaceans: the parasitic crustaceans.

Fish parasites are cold-blooded, which means that their metabolism decreases at lower temperatures.

Fish lice (Argulus) can grow up to half a centimeter. They are flat and round, with numerous legs on the ventral side. With 2 suction cups they attach themselves to the fish and pierce its skin with their poisonous mouthparts. They feed on the bodily fluid of the host, which loses weight and rubs at the soil and plants. Argulus releases its eggs into the water in order to survive
need to find a fish within a day. Multiplication no longer takes place below 14°C, so that the problems mainly occur in the summer.

Gill lice (Ergasilus) are smaller. They attach themselves to the gills with hooks and 'graze' them. Gill tissue can become inflamed as a result. In any case, this 'grazing' causes death and thickening of the gills. The fish get stuffy and can even die.

Anchor worms (Lernea) can grow up to several centimeters. They are not worms, but they also belong to the 'parasitic crustaceans'. The young adult crustaceans mate on the gills, after which only the females can become harmful. These attach themselves to the fish and drill their anchor-shaped head into the fish tissue. So the first symptom is bleeding into the fish skin. This is then visible as a red spot on the fish. When the parasite has become an adult, we see the 1 cm long body with the 2 egg sacs sticking out of the fish like a V-shaped shape. When they fall off, they leave a nasty sore.

Skin and gill flukes are flat flukes of 0.3-0.5 mm in size, which regularly occur on our pond fish.

Gyrodactylus is the skin worm that is viviparous and can therefore reproduce quickly and massively. By crawling on the skin, it thickens and a gray slimy layer is created.

This worm is viviparous (that is, gives birth to live young) and you can see the young in the abdomen (note the hooks in the abdomen)

This worm is easily recognizable under the microscope at a magnification of 50 times.

The gill fluke is called Dactylogyrus and is oviparous. It damages and irritates the gills, causing them to thicken and stop functioning properly. The fish rub their gill covers against plants and stones. With deterioration, they swim with open gill covers due to shortness of breath and may even die.

This worm is oviparous (you don't see any young in the belly). Furthermore, this worm has 4 eyespots that are visible.

Leeches (Piscicola geometra) are worms with 2 suction cups: a smaller one that also functions as a mouth and a larger one at the tail. They have cross stripes and grow 2 to 4 cm in size. With the tail sucker they attach themselves to stones or plants and wait for a fish to pass by. Here they shoot in a fraction of a second and suck themselves with the mouth sucker. Like all blood-sucking parasites, they can transmit infections. They cause unrest and abrasive fish. All of these parasites cause wounds in the fish skin, which can become inflamed by bacteria and fungi. This can be prevented by treatment with Morenicol Cytofex or Morenicol FMC-50.
